Posting on Facebook Isn't a Childcare Marketing Strategy
Sep 05, 2026
If you own a childcare center and you're posting on Facebook three times a week, that's great.
But I want you to understand something:
Posting on Facebook is not a childcare marketing strategy.
It's one small part of one.
I see this all the time with childcare owners. They take a cute picture of the children doing an activity, post it on Facebook or Instagram, and check "marketing" off their list.
Then they wonder why their classrooms still have empty spaces.
The problem isn't necessarily your childcare center.
And it doesn't mean you need to post every single day.
You need a visibility system.
Start With WHO You Want to Reach
Before you create another post, ask yourself:
Who am I trying to reach?
"Parents" is too broad.
Maybe you need families with toddlers.
Maybe you have preschool spaces available.
Maybe your after-school program needs children from specific elementary schools.
Your marketing should speak directly to those families.
Instead of:
"We have spaces available!"
Try:
"Looking for toddler childcare in [YOUR CITY]?"
Now the right parent immediately knows you're talking to them.
Show Families More Than Cute Pictures
Your social media should help parents understand what it actually feels like to send their child to your center.
I like to build childcare content around different marketing pillars.
Show your classrooms and activities.
Introduce your educators.
Share parent reviews.
Talk about what makes your program different.
Show your involvement in the local community.
Answer questions parents ask during tours.
And yes, show those adorable messy art projects too. 😂
You're not just filling a social media feed.
You're building trust before a parent ever contacts you.
Think Beyond Facebook and Instagram
Parents aren't only looking for childcare while scrolling Facebook.
They're searching Google.
They're reading reviews.
They're visiting childcare websites.
They're asking other parents for recommendations.
That's why your Google Business Profile, website, reviews, social media and local messaging should work together.
When someone searches for childcare in your area, you want your center to have a strong presence wherever that parent looks.
Help Your Best Content Live Longer
One of the biggest mistakes I see is constantly creating something new.
You don't always need more content.
You need to get more mileage from the content you already have.
Take one great parent testimonial and turn it into a graphic.
Use it in a Reel.
Share it in Stories.
Add it to your website.
Use it in an ad.
Create another post from one sentence in the review.
You can also use paid advertising and retargeting to stay in front of local families who have already interacted with your business.
Suddenly, one piece of content isn't doing one job.
It's doing five.
And Don't Forget What Happens After the Lead
This is the part nobody wants to talk about.
You can have great social media.
Great ads.
Great reviews.
And plenty of inquiries.
But if nobody follows up quickly or gives that family a clear next step, you're still going to lose potential enrollments.
Your marketing system should take families from:
Discovery → Trust → Inquiry → Tour → Enrollment
That's the difference between simply posting and actually marketing your childcare center.
You don't need to spend your entire day on social media.
